Our School

Four Dwellings Primary Academy is a 2 form-entry primary school, in the heart of Quinton, Birmingham with 454 pupils on roll. Pupils from 3yrs to 11yrs come here to learn, explore, investigate, discover, build aspirations, question and to solve problems through an engaging and challenging curriculum and school life.

At Four Dwellings Primary Academy, we have our ‘4D’s’ which are our fundamental principles and run through all areas of school life.

The School Day

The school gates open at 8:00 am and children may enter the site with the parent/carer. At 8:45am, staff will go out to collect the children and parents/carers hand the children over to school staff; children will form a line and enter the building in silence. Members of staff will be available to take messages from parents and carers at directed by the Headteacher. There will be an independent learning activity ready for the children to complete during registration. Registers close at 8:55am and learning starts at 9:00am. Outside doors must be closed at 8:55am; any pupil arriving after this time must be directed to the school office as marked as absent. The attendance officer will monitor pupil attendance and punctuality and take appropriate action; however, it is the responsibility of all members of staff to monitor the attendance of pupils in their class and to keep a constant dialogue open with the attendance officer to ensure action is taken in a timely manner when needed.

Our School Assemblies

Every week we hold 2 whole school assemblies.

On  Monday, our assembly focuses the children upon the week ahead and highlights any key events which might be happening. The key theme for this assembly is one of our 4D’s: Dream, Duty, Drive or Dazzle.

Our Friday assembly is our ‘Dazzle’ assembly which celebrates the achievements of the pupils during the week through the award of certificates, badges or stickers. Our parents love the opportunity to watch their child as we celebrate their successes during this assembly.

At Four Dwellings we also use Phase Assemblies or Class Assemblies as a time to reflect, listen to stories from various faiths and develop and discuss our thoughts about current issues. We also ensure that we hold specific themed assemblies which unite the whole school upon one particular focus i.e. Remembrance, anti-bullying, charity, etc. Sometimes, we are lucky enough to have some special guests who run an assembly for us! These have included: Birmingham City Mission, St Boniface Church, Our School Council and Four Dwellings Academy (Secondary).

We believe that the opportunity for pupils to perform to a real audience is a crucial learning experience for our pupils and so we ensure that throughout the year each class performs a class assembly to an invited audience, as well as any Christmas or end of year performances.
